Huckabee leads in VP Poll

John McCain's home state of Arizona is choosing Huckabee as the best choice for McCain's running mate / vice president.

Huckabee is leading the pack with 79% of the vote. Mitt Romney is a distant second with 7%.

You can still continue to let your voice be heard and vote in the poll by clicking here.

If John McCain does not choose Huckabee as his VP running mate, then I have no reason to vote for McCain in the general election. I wouldn't have a voice that speaks for me or pushes for the issues that I care about.

John McCain needs evangelical help. I know I am one and I don't feel that he at all relates to this huge bloc of voters. Barack Obama even seems to appeal just as much as McCain, simply because he has a more compassionate speaking ability. I wouldn't ever vote for him, but he has something McCain desperately needs, and that Huckabee can bring.

He is making a HUGE mistake if he doesn't pick Huckabee or at least someone with a great appeal to evangelicals. The thing is that he appeals not only to evangelicals but some blacks, Latinos, young voters, independent minded democrats, and lower-income citizens. ALL things Republicans HAVE to have in order to win this election year.

Otherwise we fall even harder.

J.C. Watts: Missing Mike Huckabee

It's such a tragedy that the GOP establishment shunned Huckabee during his Presidential run. Huckabee had the ability to relate to the lower income class, as well as blacks, latinos, Christian evangelicals, and a host of other types.

Former Republican U.S. House Representative from Oklahoma J.C. Watts wrote a great article talking about missing Huckabee.

McCain Needs Huckabee as VP

Message to John McCain - You need Mike Huckabee as your running mate if you want any chance of winning. I know that I, along with many others, will not feel very motivated to vote for you if someone like Huckabee is not on the ticket.

The reason? Because you do not motivate the vast majority of socially conservative Christians in the party. That's simply a fact. And you will not win the election without shoring up as much of this population as you can.

If you can have the socially conservative Christian base passionate about your candidacy, imagine the huge church population that will spread your support like wildfire. That's what helped George W. Bush, and that's what was helping Huckabee fire up all that support he had.

So John McCain - let me assure you that if you pick some average Republican wonk like Charlie Crist or Mitt Romney, you will lose this election handily. You need someone who is down to earth and comes from very humble beginnings with a great story to tell and very Christian conservative credentials.

Mike Huckabee is the only logical solution. If he is not on the ticket, this election becomes very hard for me to get passionate about. McCain is a very average guy with very little charisma. If he picks someone similar, then he is doomed this November.
