HUCKABEE OUT OF 2012 RACE, NOW WHO?

I consider myself one of Mike Huckabee's most ardent supporters. When he ran for president in 2008, I went all out and did whatever I possibly could to support him. Needless to say, when he announced that he wasn't going to run in the 2012 election cycle, I was pretty much heart broken.

My first thought was, "What in the world am I going to do now?" In my opinion, the field of candidates for the GOP is extremely weak. I have analyzed the candidates to see who I might possibly support in place of Huckabee, but none stand out whatsoever.

Tim Pawlenty = boring. The Republican equivalent of Al Gore. Blah.

Mitt Romney = robot. He says and does everything exactly like a political robot. He panders, flip flops, and shows virtually no personality.

Ron Paul = kooky. His extreme views and near ancient age make him a non starter. He will have the pot head vote but not much more than that.

Herman Cain = Alan Keys v.2. Enough said. He isn't going to get the nomination.

Newt Gingrich = unelectable. He has too much baggage, a bland personality, oh, and a horrendous name. He doesn' t generate enthusiasm at all.

I could go on but why torture myself? Needless to say, my vote is still very much up for grabs
I hope some sort of charismatic, smart, exciting candidate enters the race and sweeps me off my feet like Hucksbbe did in '08, but it's not looking good.

Why Huck, why? The nomination was yours for the taking. It might as well been sitting on a silver platter for you, but you were not willing.

Is Waterboarding Really Torture?

Okay, I'm sure you've seen some videos by now of a few different people being voluntarily waterboarded in order to show us all just how bad it really is.

.Wow.. Really? You are going to voluntarily subject yourself to TORTURE just to show us that it's torture?

What if people were questioning whether or not ripping your fingernails off was torture, or maybe slowly chopping your fingers and toes off - would they subject themselves to this too in order to prove that it "really is torture?"

The very fact that people are WILLINGLY subjecting themselves to waterboarding pretty much means that it is NOT torture at all.

Uncomfortable? Yes. Of course. But making someone uncomfortable is not torture, and it's not inhumane. It's getting important information out of people, and there is no permanent damage done by waterboarding or any other technique that was used by the military. And remember, these are suspected TERRORISTS who kill without remorse. And people are getting upset at making terrorists uncomfortable? What is this country coming to?

Waterboarding is not torture. period.

Michael Steele VS Rush Limbaugh?

The media has tried to make a big deal out of the comments Michael Steele made about Rush Limbaugh. On the D. L. Hughley show on CNN, Steele said Rush Limbaugh was "not the leader" of the Republican party. And this is CORRECT. Limbaugh is a radio host who espouses mostly conservative ideas - he is NOT a leader of the Republican party. By definition, Michael Steele is - after all, he was elected to head the Republican National Committee (RNC).

Steele also said that Rush sometimes says some "ugly" comments - which I happen to agree with. But the media is trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill. The media (and the White House) are trying to play up the "major divide" in the GOP. Much of this divide is made up in order to slime the whole party.

Steele already apologized for the ruffling of feathers, but there really wasn't much to what Steele had said. He was simply making a factual observation!

Some are actually calling Michael Steele to either be removed or to resign, which is absolute nonsense. Steele is a bright and very talented guy -- someone the GOP desperately needs.

In fact, I hope Steele will be the VP pick when Huckabee is the nominee in 2012!

This post is to plead with Governor Mike Huckabee to run for President in 2012.

After reviewing all of the Republican Senators and Governors, I have found no one who comes anywhere close to the articulate leadership that Huckabee has shown for the true conservative people.

I have seen a shift lately in the "conservative" Republican talking points. They are completely shying away from talk about social issues like abortion and homosexual marriage, as well as Christian issues. As a result, the liberal "progressive" movement has invaded our country, and has begun to take a foothold over America's moral fiber.

We need someone who is unafraid to take bold stands about their faith, and their positions on social and religious issues, but at the same time know how to be cordial and respectful to other people.

Mike Huckabee is the only man in town as far as I'm concerned.

Huckabee is the conservative alternative to Barack Obama. Obama won the Presidency with his smooth talking, but also his unrelenting positivitiy!

Huckabee came in to the 2008 race with almost no name recognition whatsoever. And to get as far as he did in such a short time must mean this guy has something very special.

I don't like where the Republican party is headed right now. In fact, I am sick of the way things have been run by the leaders in the party.

We need to right this ship. We need to get back on track. We need Mike Huckabee in 2012.

Mike Huckabee for President in 2012?

Even though the election is not over yet, there is already some chatter about who would be the best Republican to go up against Obama in 2012 should America have the misfortune of seeing him elected in November.

Personally, I think Mike Huckabee has every quality in a Presidential candidate that the GOP could want. He is relatable, experienced, intelligent, and has cross-over appeal to independents and some democrats.

Marc Ambinder of TheAtlantic.com has explained why he thinks Huckabee would be the best candidate to go up against Obama in '12 in an article called "So Why's Huck An Early '12 Frontrunner?". Here is part of what Ambinder says:

But this column thinks that Mike Huckabee has an equally plausible shot. He'd be the most formidable opponent for Obama, other than Gen.Petraeus -- perhaps Obama will neutralize the Petraeus threat by making him head of the joint chiefs and befriending him as much as possible.

Anyway, Huckabee seems most like the friendly, forward-looking face of conservatism, especially if Obama, in office, makes a point about not being nasty toward his opponents. Huckabee's gifts are closer to Obama's. And most importantly, Huckabee has fewer ties to the GOP establishment than Romney -- the same autophagic establishment that's getting the blame for eight years of messiness.

Obama Leads McCain Palin in all Polls - Why?

In the latest Gallup survey tracking poll, Obama leads the McCain - Palin ticket by 5 percentage points, 49% to 44%. The report came out today, on September 19, 2008. Click here to view it.

This Gallup survey is not the only one Obama is leading in. In all major public surveys, Obama is ahead of McCain by a few points, or at the minimum they are shown to be tied.

Just after the Republican National Convention, McCain came out with a fire under his bottom, boosting in the polls at about 4 or 5 points ahead of Obama. But what happened to that lead, and why is Obama now the leader?

My guess is that Obama's increase in the polls is due to a combination of factors. Some of those factors include:

1) Bad economic times, along with the reports of the Wall Street meltdown, beginning with the Sept. 14 announcement that the Lehman Brothers were headed for bankruptcy.

2) Sarah Palin is being battered in the news, as if she were being victimized by an abusive husband. She is being slaughtered at every chance possible by the general media. It's not only the hard left, but every media source is letting out their venom towards her.

3) McCain's dubious advertisements aren't helping him very much. Some of the "quotes" on his ads were stretching the truth at best. Misleading would probably be the best way to put it. Obama has done the same thing, especially with some of his Spanish ads, but he had the advantage of hiding it in the language, plus saying "McCain did it first."

4) The country in general is not real happy with leaving a Party in the White House for more than eight years. No matter who the guy is, they kind of just want to change the party that's leading the country just because something doesn't sit right for one party to be at the head of the table for so long.

- But all of these factors are not permanent disablers to the McCain Campaign. If they can continue to satisfy the conservative base of the Republican party, as well as igniting those independents who love his "maverick" streak, then he still has a very good chance of overcoming the roadblocks that he has to face.

Biden says Hillary better pick than him for VP

At a rally in Nashua, N.H., a man in the audience told Biden how glad he was that Obama picked him over Hillary, "not because she's a woman, but because, look at the things she did in the past."

During Biden's response, these surprising words emerged

"...quite frankly, (she) might have been a better pick than me."

A Spokesman for the McCain campaign was quick to respond:

"Barack Obama’s most important decision of this election, and Biden -- the candidate he selects -- suggests, himself, that he wasn’t the right man for the job, and that Hillary Clinton would have been a better choice. Biden certainly has a credible viewpoint on this."

The McCain camp has been brilliant at seizing every single opportunity to attack the Obama camp for mishaps. They must be a political dream team, because everything they are doing to rise McCain from the ashes has been highly effective. Everything from the Sarah Palin pick, the the internet ads, to the way they respond to blunders. They truly know how to take someone off message.

If I was asked whether or not McCain was going to win this election a month or two ago, I would have been highly skeptical. But now? I'm actually beginning to think it's likely.

Barack Obama is out to destroy Sarah Palin. Ever since the historic announcement of Sarah Palin as McCain's running mate, the Obama campaign has been sinking in the polls. He must be panicking, because the The Wall Street Journal reports that Obama has sent over 20 lawyers, investigators, and "opposition researchers" into Alaska to find out dirt on Sarah Palin in order to attack her. It's essentially a "search and destroy" mission.

Oprah Says 'No' To Sarah Palin

A story appeared on the Drudge Report claiming that a political battle was brewing behind the scenes of the Oprah show about whether or not to have Sarah Palin on the show.

The sad thing about this is that Oprah Winfrey is usually associated with woman empowerment. Sarah Palin's nomination for VP is a historic event in the woman's rights movement, many would say. Oprah clearly has the ability to just interview in a non-threatening way -- she is a professional at that. So why not simply interview Palin, even though she is for Obama?

Put aside your politics for a moment Oprah, and just accept and take pride in the fact that a woman is posibly going to be the VP.

NEW POLL: McCain and Obama Tied - Momentum Changing?

A new poll put out by CBS shows that the race for President is now tied. Both McCain and Obama are dead even at 42% each.

I can sort of feel the energy and tide of momentum shifting over to the McCain/Palin ticket... can't you? Obama seems to be sort of running out of steam. His pick of Biden didn't seem to arouse much enthusiasm. I think Obama might be like a cool CD you just bought. It sounds really good for a while, but once you hear it too many times, you're ready for something else. McCain is like that reliable old car that just doesn't ever seem to die. It's never real pretty, but it never lets you down. To make the car more attractive, McCain picked up a "hot chick" to make the ride look a lot cooler.

It worked.

McCain Proves he Cares About Uniting Conservatives

I was at first very wary of supporting John McCain for President. I wasn't sure he actually had the best interest of conservatives (social and otherwise) in his agenda. I had many reasons for thinking this, not the least of which was his 2000 campaign against current President George W. Bush. If McCain wanted to prove that he really has had a change of heart, he was going to have to do something drastic. And something drastic he did, by picking Sarah Palin as his VP; the first woman to ever run on a national Republican ticket.

Palin is a strong conservative to the core; She's pro-life, pro-family, pro-faith, pro-second amendment, pro-drilling, anti-taxes, anti-big government, and best of all, anti-liberal!

She is also a very exciting, energizing woman who will make history as the first female to ever serve as Vice President! She is interesting to listen to and watch, and she actually has a very effective record in her stint as Governor of Alaska.

She will make a fine VP, and I thank John McCain for showing all of us doubters that he actually does care what we think.

Huckabee Was Never Even Considered for McCain's VP

Mike Huckabee put out a letter today on his website that said he was never even considered to be McCain's VP. The McCain campaign never even contacted him in any way about it. In his letter, Huckabee says:

I have never been contacted by the McCain campaign at any point about the VP slot. I have never been asked for any information, background, etc.,

To me, the fact that McCain didn't even consider Huckabee as a worthy running mate tells us that McCain is not very bright. Huckabee's millions of supporters will not take this complete snub lightly -- I know I won't.

McCain, you can count me out. I would rather wait for Huckabee in 2012!

Rich Lowry: Huckabee for VP? Worth a "Last Minute" Look

Rich Lowry of the National Review makes some astute points regarding Huckabee's "pros" as it relates to McCain's "woes" and why he would actually make an ideal vice president nominee for McCain.

Here is what Lowry wrote:

But wouldn't Huckabee make a lot of sense given the things we've learned the last two weeks? 1) McCain might have a "wealth problem," and certainly Democrats are going to try to hit his wealth for all its worth in their play for working-class voters; Huckabee doesn't have a problem on this front, and has lots of working-class cred. 2) The pro-choice trial balloon hasn't been well received, and it's clear that a pro-choice nominee would create a major disruption; Huckabee is pro-life. 3) Obama picked Biden who is going to a vivid presence (for better or worse) on the stump and could be formidable in debate; Huckabee is a great campaigner and might be just the guy to puncture Biden in a debate. 4) (This is a less important point.) The McCain folks have made a huge deal about differences between Obama and Biden during the primaries; McCain and Huckabee didn't have much in the way of differences and went out of their way to praise each other. The other upsides are the press likes Huckabee (for now), he's a different kind of Republican, and his selection would be such a shock, it might even be considered bold.

I completely agree that Huckabee compliments McCain very well in so many areas. But I think that there are people who REALLY REALLY HATE Huckabee making their voices heard loud enough that McCain and his campaign are not allowing this great candidate to be considered.

But McCain needs to be bold and choose someone interesting and who compliments him well. Huckabee is the best choice for many reasons, many of which were listed above.

So yes, as Lowry wrote at the end of his article, "Huckabee might be worth a last-minute second look." I completely agree!

Obama Picks Biden for his VP Pick - Who Will McCain Choose?

Senator Barack Obama has decided to name Senator Joseph Biden as his choice for Vice President. This is probably the best choice Obama could have made, aside from Senator Hillary Clinton. Joe Biden offers a wealth of both perceived and actual experience on foreign policy, as well as domestic issues. He has far more experience than Obama in political service. So much so, that it's actually funny to see the ticket as Obama/Biden rather than Biden/Obama. The latter seems to be much more logical.

I don't know that Biden can really make up for Obama's lack of experience. In fact, I think Biden only increases the awareness of it. Moreover, Biden also respresents the style of old-school politics that Obama was claiming to be "above." I believe that Biden was the correct choice for Obama politically, but I think it's the best of a bad situation.

Now the focus is on who Senator John McCain will choose for his Vice Presidential candidate. In my opinion, McCain needs to pick someone who is a strong social conservative, as well as someone who is fresh and charismatic.

My opinion that Governor Mike Huckabee would be the absolute perfect choice, considering his humor, intellect, charm and charisma. However, McCain doesn't want to go in that direction, so I think his choice is down to two people: Tim Pawlenty and Mitt Romney. If McCain picks Pawlenty, then you can expect a pretty bland reception from people. Quite frankly, he is another Sam Brownback. No spark and no passion shows through his personality.

Mitt Romney is not one of my favorite politicians by far. Not because of his Mormonism, but because of his nasty style of politics, even to his fellow Republicans. He ripped both McCain and Huckabee with very unfair attacks in the Republican Primaries. However, I think his debating skills are pretty good and he is pretty sharp and on his toes. He's also a very "rich" looking guy, sort of like John Kerry is. He just screams "millionaire" when you look at him, and I don't think that will help McCain's chances at all.

If McCain is going to choose one of these two guys, I would go with Romney even though he wouldn't be very helpful (only slightly more helpful than Pawlenty). He's at least interesting to listen to.

Hopefully McCain will surprise us all and pick someone with great people skills, along with charm, charisma, intellect, humility, etc.

John McCain and Barack Obama recently visited the Saddleback Church, of which Rick Warren is the pastor of. Both candidates were asked the same questions, so the forum was very unbiased.

Now, I know John McCain is a huge panderer. He has a huge list of flip-flops on almost every issue in the book. He has even been inconsistent on his support for certain evangelicals and their leadership, calling them "agents of intolerance." Of course, McCain has since reversed that comment, because guess what? He now NEEDS every vote from the very type of people he called agents of intolerance.

I am not so sure about the sincerity of someone like McCain. He seems to be a textbook politician, flipping and flopping his way through every single issue where he needs to in order to get support.

With that being said, I think McCain did pretty well at the civil forum hosted by Pastor Warren. But look at where he was at... a pandering McCain will ALWAYS choose the applause line depending on the forum he is in. If he was in a more liberal type of venue, I am certain his answers would not have been as direct, and maybe even skewed a little more toward that particular audience's point-of-view.

Listen to John McCain in the video below (from year 2000) as he talks about the "intolerance and wrongheadedness" of Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson. He mentions them by name, but do you realize the underlying message from him there is that strong, unwaivering Christians are roadblocks and intolerant bigots who are in the way of the Republican party.

Now McCain wants our support and has since started to heavily pander to the Christian right. Is this a man that we can trust to really see and represent our point of view? I am not so sure he has earned that kind of trust.

I have noticed that ever since Huckabee withdrew from the Presidential race, the media was happy to never speak of him again, unless they absolutely HAD to.

Vice President? The Huck haters would never have it. The evangelicals have been slapped in the face this year. You and me have been left in the dust, and John McCain doesn't even care. He wants your vote, but he doesn't want you to have a voice for the issues that you care about.

McCain hasn't announced his running mate yet, but there's ZERO talk about Huckabee, and Huck has even stated that there's been no interest shown in him for VP. That tells me that McCain is ignoring the huge evangelical base that was so passionate about Huckabee's candidacy.

I am so disgusted with McCain and his history of apathy and irritation with evangelicals. I don't see myself voting for him in November... I just can't pull the trigger for someone like that. With choices like Barack Obama and John McCain, someone like Bob Barr doesn't sound so bad.

John McCain needs evangelical help. I know I am one and I don't feel that he at all relates to this huge bloc of voters. Barack Obama even seems to appeal just as much as McCain, simply because he has a more compassionate speaking ability. I wouldn't ever vote for him, but he has something McCain desperately needs, and that Huckabee can bring.

He is making a HUGE mistake if he doesn't pick Huckabee or at least someone with a great appeal to evangelicals. The thing is that he appeals not only to evangelicals but some blacks, Latinos, young voters, independent minded democrats, and lower-income citizens. ALL things Republicans HAVE to have in order to win this election year.

As a Mike Huckabee supporter from the very early beginning, I have been absolutely surprised and delighted to see Mike Huckabee historic rise to the top of the pack of Presidential contenders. Although it looks like he is going to fall just short, I believe this rise is not for nothing.

I believe Huckabee's turn is going to be in the next four years; because frankly, John McCain is a VERY weak candidate. I believe he will be beat in the genral election against either Obama or Clinton. And when that happens, Huckabee will be clear to run in four years. Huck now has a very strong base and some very good name recognition. This is huge for his next run.

John McCain doesn't seem to like the fact that a 527 group called "Common Sense Issues" is "push polling" in favor of Huckabee and against him. He has in the past asked Huckabee to tell them to stop. One problem with that though. John McCain's own legislation makes it illegal for Huckabee to talk to the group! In talking to the media, Huckabee said:

They failed miserably in Iowa trying to paint Huck with a misleading brush - and they will fail in South Carolina too.

I really doubt they had much to do with Michigan either -- although they are claiming to on their website. The hard fact that Toomey needs to realize is that his organization is irrelevant in trying to tear down Huck. People see through his special interest hogwash. He knows Huck won't bow down to his commands, therefore he needs a puppet who will. And who might that puppet be?

Huckabee Needs to Fight While he Can

Ok, I was checking all the state polls before Romney won Michigan -- and it looked as though McCain was ready to sweep through them all and get the nomination.... if he would have won Michigan. But he didn't. Mitt Romney did, thereby slowing down the momentum and praise McCain will be getting.

This opens the door up very wide for Huckabee in South Carolina. This state is his for the taking. It's southern fried, just like he is, and it has people who are deeply devout and sincere in their faith. This needs to be the momentum generator, this state of SC needs to be the gas in the engine of his campaign. If Huck can't win here, it will be an uphill climb, albeit one that could conceivably still work out.

My concern right now though is all the secular angry pundits who claim to be conservatives. You know who I'm talking about if you have read this blog at all lately.

Mike Huckabee has to realize this one thing: these people are hurting him and they shouldn't be ignored. And he needs to find a way to respond that makes sense to those who listen to talk radio and other pundits. Joe Carter has a very interesting article on some things Huckabee's campaign needs to consider.

He has been able to sustain his campaign this far, which in and of itself is quite astounding considering the vitriolic onslaught he has been taking from the deceitful wing of the Republican party and pundits. They have been lying about Huckabee's record like nobody's business. And I'm talking about big and vicious lies. But will anyone notice?

Only if people start speaking up. Silence will only make the lies grow and grow. These things need to be combatted and now. Positive campaigning becomes ignorant campaigning when you stop defending yourself and become a punching bag.

Rule #1 in politics: Do not let your opponents define who you are or what you stand for with their lies.

Governor Huckabee, it's time to fight back. Not with nastiness, but with aggressive truth telling. We're with you!

A lot of the talking heads like Rush Limbaugh and other secular conservatives are claiming that Huckabee is playing a game of class warfare. Apparently because he talks about corporate greed and also talks about the lower class and the poor.

But we MUST talk about the poor and the lower class. We MUST include minorities. We MUST talk about poverty and the hurting common man. If we don't, then we are relegated to a party which will simply continue to shrink into nothing. We MUST expand our base and do it within the confines of conservative principles.

This nonsense that Huckabee is a huge tax raiser is simply absurd. Huckabee rebuilt roads and improved education immensely -- but he gets criticized for doing these things because *GASP* it took raising taxes to do it. Of COURSE it did, but Governors are responsible for making their state the best it can be. He CUT taxes too, over 90 times!

Huckabee's foreign policy is claimed to be "liberal." REALLY? By claiming we should have the most fierce and well funded military to ever be known to man? By stating we need to strongly win the war in Iraq with honor? By claiming we will strike Iranian ships if they dare mess with U.S. ships? Are you serious Limbaugh, Thompson, and others?

What kind of Republican party do we want to exist? One which is afraid to talk about the poor, afraid to talk about the environment? One that is AFRAID to talk about corporate greed? These are all true and legitimate things to be concerned about, and yet if someone like Huckabee mentions them, the secular, fat-pocketed elites like Rush Limbaugh try to squash him.

Yes, the secular, rich Republican elites don't want a compassionate blue collar underdog like Huckabee to be in the party -- at least not at the head of the party. It's not good for business you see. They would rather them sitting at the back of the bus, quietly accepting their secular, angry conservatism and voting as they say.

No thank you. Not this time.

Talk Radio Betrayal of Huckabee - Establishment Republicans show their true colors

An interesting thing is happening in talk radio. All of the "conservative" talk show hosts have decided it's in their best interest to come out strongly against Huckabee. This includes Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin, Sean Hannity, Michael Savage, Laura Ingrahm and a slew of others who have made it their mission to try and derail Governor Mike Huckabee's campaign.

Rush Limbaugh recently created a false thing where he claimed a Huckabee staffer had criticized him, when in reality it was an anonymous Huckabee "ally." It could have been ANYONE, even something made up. Yet Rush made it out like Huckabee himself was attacking him. I can only conclude that Rush made this up in order to create a pathway for him to start slamming Huckabee in every way possible. To me, that makes Rush Limbaugh a very devious and deceitful man.

Sean Hannity thinks his listeners have the mind of a child, by acting like he really loves Huckabee, but just can't seem to get past why Huckabee would pardon a murderer (a complete lie). Hannity makes a point to bring up refuted points over and over to try and stick it to Huckabee. No matter how good Huckabee answers, Sean reiterates how he thinks this is problematic. "But I'm neutral!" screams Hannity. Please Sean. Do you think your listeners are that small minded?

I could give more examples, but you don't need them if you keep up with talk radio at all. Other establishment Republicans other than Rush, Hannity, et al. are attacking Huckabee too. Ann Coulter (Rush's best buddy), Michelle Malkin, and other crude Republican comedians feel the need to attack Huckabee at every turn.

Perhaps part of the problem comes when Huckabee says things like it doesn't bother him if an atheist is honest about their lack of religion, but it bothers him more when people say they are Christians and don't live like it. Perhaps Rush, Malkin, Coulter, et al. feel the sting of truth in that comment as it relates to them? Just a thought.

But why they never touch slick Mitt is interesting. Even though Romney has been all over the map on every issue, and ran to the LEFT of liberal Ted Kennedy in Massachusetts, they give slick Mitt a pass because he is easily controlled by the likes of the establishment. Huckabee is far more conservative than Romney, and more consistent for that matter too. They are picking on Huckabee for small things - things which he has made conservative promises on. Yet they don't accept it like they accept Mitt Romney's "change."

Mike Huckabee is not controlled by these goons. Yes, they are goons -- and this comes from someone who has listened to Hannity, Limbaugh, Malkin etc. for most of my adult life. I bought Coulter's books, consumed Michael Savage's anger, and relished Mark Levin's whining & squeaky voice every day. No more. Their true colors have been revealed. They are angry, irrational, and unwilling to give dissenting conservative voices any chance to be heard whatsoever.

Rush Limbaugh does NOT speak for the middle or lower class. He is a rich Republican elitist who couldn't relate to the common man any more than slick Mitt or Hillary Clinton can. He makes his living by reading off talking points that stir up anger.

Mike Huckabee has gotten as far as he has by not eliciting that type of anger in people. He actually wants to unite, whereas the angry conservatives simply want to divide and conquer and bring in book sales and more entertaining radio. I reject their unamerican ways and you should too.

I was fooled once that these people were actually welcoming of compassionate Christians. But I see that is wrong. They reject Christians of compassion and I think we all should reject them. Stay away from these hate-mongers, as all they want to do is line their pockets with as much cash as they can get their angry hands on.

And trust me, I feel more betrayed by these people than you can imagine. I have felt their anger towards liberals and loved it, but now feeling their anger towards people like Huckabee (and all us supporters for that matter) shows me that they have no true desire to see the common man or even the devout Christian believer have a voice in the Republican party. And that's a crying shame.

Yes, Huckabee’s 46% of Evangelicals was a strong showing, but it was directly comparable to his commanding 40% of women, or 40% of all voters under the age of 30, or 41% of those earning less than $30,000 a year. He’s hardly the one-dimensional religious candidate of media caricature.

It’s also idiotic and dishonest for observers to keep harping on anti-Mormon bigotry as the basis for Mitt Romney’s disappointing showing. Yeah, it's true that 81% of Evangelicals voted against Romney--- but 75% of ALL Iowa Republicans voted against him, so where is the big evidence of "anti-Mormon bigotry"? In other words, there’s only a 6% difference between his general rejection and his Evangelical rejection. There’s no evidence, in other words, that those who described themselves as “born again” or “evangelical” faced an especially tough time voting for a Mormon. Romney, after all, finished second among this group—as he finished second among the electorate in general. Among Evangelicals, Mormon Mitt beat John McCain, Fred Thompson and Ron Paul by a ratio of nearly two-to-one…a bigger, not smaller margin of victory over these other non-Mormon candidates than he managed to achieve in the electorate in general. The message ought to be obvious: the core issue was phoniness, not faith-- and the religious and non-religious alike react badly to phoniness.

Meanwhile, 87% of non-Evangelicals voted against Huckabee.... compared to only 66% of all Iowa Republicans.... in other words a 21% gap! Think about this.... THERE'S MORE EVIDENCE IN THE EXIT POLLS OF ANTI-EVANGELICAL PREJUDICE than there is of anti-Mormon prejudice. Huckabee did well across the board with all groups in the exit polls except one: the 40% who said "no" to the question, "Are you a 'born-again' or 'evangelical' Christian?" He finished fourth among this group, behind Romney, Thompson and McCain.

The evidence is pretty clear, isn't it? The preferences of Evangelicals mirrored those of Iowans in general. But the preferences of the "non Evangelical" group were distorted by their religious beliefs (or non-beliefs) and led them (as the same prejudices leads angry members of the conservative establishment) to blast, resent and dismiss the Huck.

Massaging the numbers another way ---Huckabee got 46% of the Evangelical vote, only 14% of non-Evangelical--- a huge 32% difference based on the rejection by these people of a well-known religious identity.

Romney, on the other hand, got 19% of Evangelical vote, and 33% of non Evangelical voters--- a vastly less significant 14% difference...

In other words, Non-Evangelicals appear to have been much more influenced by the religious variable in their distaste for Huck, than Evangelicals were influenced by that variable in their distaste for Mitt.

Those who insist, over and over again, that the Iowa Caucuses reflected “Christian identity politics” or a “tidal wave of Evangelical support” are basing their analysis on feelings, not facts; on vapors, not voters. It’s dishonest to say that a guy who just won a crushing state-wide victory, without even winning the majority of his own religious group, displayed a one dimension appeal to Christian zealots only.

This endlessly repeated story line is not only tired, it’s a lie.

Mike Huckabee Pulls Negative Romney Ad

Mike Huckabee scheduled a press conference in order to announce the airing of an ad they created against Mitt Romney, sort of as a response to the relentless attacks Romney has been doing on Huckabee. At the last minute Huckabee decided to take the ad off, and not run it on TV. As a result, Huckabee had to let the media know of his last-minute decision to pull the ad, and the scheduled press conference would not be what it originally was intended to be.

Now, the media are taking this story as Huckabee trying to pull a fast one on them. By showing the ad to the media, they are saying him not airing the ad is irrelevant since he just showed it to them. Thus, they claim Huckabee is being deceptive in his claim of "remaining positive by not showing the ad." Pundits and critics are calling this move by Huckabee a "meltdown" of sorts, etc.

But think about this. Huckabee told the media "You're not going to get a copy of it, so this is your chance to see it, then after that, you'll never see it again." If the media aren't getting a copy of it, then how is the ad going to be seen to the public on a large scale like the media says was the desired result? There is no clear or audible cut of the video for viewing. It was Huckabee's decision alone, not his campaign team. This ad is not freely aired, cause no one has a copy of it. Grainy footage with no audio is free press?

All the media would be able to do is talk about it in news articles. Huckabee said the reason he showed it to the press room, is because if he hadn't shown it, then they would have thought his claim of pulling the negative ad was itself a deception in order to look positive. But Huck wanted to prove there was an ad. And he showed it. Now it won't be shown again.

So who's the real dolt here, Huckabee or the media, as usual? I am going with the media. They are constantly looking for juicy stories, and this fit the bill. I think the media is twisting this thing.
I believe Huckabee is actually being genuine, as usual.

You decide. But look at the facts really hard before making your mind up. The media or Huckabee? I choose Huck.

Cable News Rankings on Huckabee Coverage

I consistently watch the three cable news channels, watching for Mike Huckabee coverage to see how they will spin things. I watch all three about equally I would say, and based on my opinion of their coverage, the most fair and balanced coverage of Huckabee has been from CNN.

I would rank them in this order, from the most fair, to the least fair:

1. CNN

2. MSNBC

3. FOX News

Possibly FOX has been the least fair because they have an agenda that lines up with the Republican establishment, whereas CNN seems to be sort of neutral to it all right now. That will more than likely change in the general election though.

CNN usually has a liberal bias to it overall, and it still does. But when they cover Huck, it's usally at least balanced. Thank you CNN, for being fair where others aren't.

Drudge/Romney Report Mislead Again

I don't know why the media at large continue to take this guy's bait and willingly bite. Drudge is Mitt Romney's cohort. We have already established he has close connections with Romney's strategist Matt Rhoades.

Look at the latest false Drudge headline. It says "Huckabee's National Chairman Guarantees IA Victory..."But if you read the whole interview, as I did, you will see that Ed Rollins never guarenteed victory. But guess what happens now? The media all read this on master Drudge's website and run to Huckabee saying, "Why did you guarantee victory?" Read the article guys! Not just the false Drudge headline. The guy is a tabloid artist.

Here is what Rollins said about Huck and Iowa:

I think Iowa's very important to him. And I think the bottom line is that we think we're going to win Iowa. I don't think we started out expecting to win anything, but I think this is what's created a great buzz.

Where is his "guarantee of victory" in that statement?

I think Drudge is trying to create a sense of arrogance in the Huck campaign. That they think they are the for sure winners. That's just false. They think they will win, just like any campaign should. But Drudge's false headlines make you think something very different.

Mike Huckabee - Headed for a Historic Upset Victory

I always said early on - before Huckabee's meteoric rise in the polls - that Huckabee will win and it will be historic (see here and here). If things pan out the way it seems to look right now, my prediction will be 100% accurate. You see, Mike Huckabee has something that other candidates only dream of - authenticity, an ability to connect with the average person, and an incredible ability to articulate his message. It is astounding to me that Huckabee's best line of defense against all this pile-on attacking, is simply getting his face on TV and talking. He is THAT good. He gains converts every time he gets heard.

I am telling you that Huckabee is a revolutionary candidate. Ed Rollins (who is an AWESOME addition to the campaign) said Huckabee is like Reagan the way he connects with people. He's right, but also it's more than just connecting, it's his message as well! He has ideas that are common sense to many people. Middle of the road, conservative, common sense ideas. That is what Americans are looking for.

Mike Huckabee's poll numbers and support grow every day or remain steady, despite attacks from all sides. It's astounding he hasn't sunk yet because of the unfair bias all around, but like I said, he is a revolutionary candidate with unbelievable staying power. People don't just support Huckabee, they are inspired and deeply committed to him.

An Article by the UK Telegraph says, "Mike Huckabee has stormed to frontrunner status in the race for the Republican presidential nomination, placing the former Baptist pastor in sight of one of the biggest upsets in US political history..."

Huckabee has confounded the critics and upset the Republican establishment who so desperately wanted to choose our candidate for us. Hopefully, it will be the "outsiders" like us who actually choose who we want to represent us.

The Telegraph article concludes with some very astute analysis:

"...But he is no longer being written off as the promising outsider. "Huckabee is on a roll, he has gotten an enormous amount of publicity and he is doing very well with conservatives, who appear to have found a candidate," said the pollster John Zogby."

FACT CHECK: Romney attacks Huckabee again with false and misleading claims.

From FactCheck.org, a website that zeros in on political claims, checks out Mitt Romney's latest attacks on Huckabee' crime record, and comes to the conclusion that they are "false and misleading."

Their summary:

Romney launched another negative ad in Iowa this week, where the Republican presidential candidate has been battling the new front-runner, Huckabee. This time, Romney attacks Huckabee's record on methamphetamine laws and the clemencies he granted as governor of Arkansas. We found that:

The ad says Romney "got tough on drugs like meth" while governor of Massachusetts, but the legislation he supported never passed, and his state's laws are much weaker than Arkansas'. Convicted meth dealers face both minimum and maximum prison terms in Arkansas that are four times longer than those in Massachusetts.

The ad misrepresents news articles, implying that they supported Romney's actions as governor when that's not what the news organizations said. One article, in fact, gave critical views of Romney's refusal to issue a pardon.

An Open Letter to the Conservative Establishment

To whom it may concern,

It is very obvious that Mike Huckabee in not the establishment candidate. He has been hammered consistently by those in talk radio, such as Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, etc. He is also a target of FOX News, the Drudge Report, and other "angry conservatives" like Ann Coulter and Michelle Malkin. Also, almost every mainstream "conservative" website has a clear dislike for Huckabee. When you add all this to an already hostile liberal media, the force of negativity towards Huckabee is overwhelming, yet he remains steady in the polls.

Huckabee did not even get endorsed by Pat Robertson or Richard Land; and other religious people in the "establishment" are trying to tear him down as well. Catholic League President Bill Donahue for example, has talked down on Huckabee.

You exploit the Christian base when it's to your advantage, and destroy them when they are not in line with your establishment agenda. But Huckabee is confounding the elites, just as Ronald Reagan did. Why is that? Because he connects with people. He is smart, honest, genuine, and isn't afraid to actually speak like a Christian man should speak. Political correctness is destroying our culture, so when Huckabee says Christmas is about celebrating Christ's birth in a TV ad, people actually raise objections. He goes against what is politically correct. People see his honesty and the fact that he isn't going to let political correctness run over him or his faith.

Usually, people don't speak so negatively about someone who is mostly on their side. But the dirt being flung against Huckabee is truly sad. Compare that to Huckabee's campaign, which has been incredibly positive as far as political campaigns go.

Considering how biased the Republican establishment has been against Huck, if he doesn't get the nomination, I must sincerely think about unregistering as a Republican and then pray to God that a third party is formed. Mitt Romney and Rudy Giuliani are unacceptable candidates, and that should have been known before the establishment blessed them as the leaders.

I joined the Republican party out of moral conviction. The establishment has potentially turned this upside down, and instead seems to be motivated by political opportunism and power. I am sick of being used for political gain, and then pushed away when we raise up a candidate who closely identifies with us.

I write this letter with a strong hope that you will give Mike Huckabee a fair chance and stop trashing him at every turn. I don't expect this, however, because I know how the game works. But I am just amazed at how all the candidates get positive reviews from the establishment except Huckabee.

Atheist Attacks Mike Huckabee

Christopher Hitchens is a rabid, anti-Christian atheist. If you believe in God and the Bible, Hitchens more than likely hates you, just as he hates Mike Huckabee.

You see, the atheist's worst nightmare is to have a God-fearing man in the white house.

Hitchens writes:

I will on no account vote for a smirking hick like Mike Huckabee, who is an unusually stupid primate but who does not have the elementary intelligence to recognize the fact that this is what he is. My right to say and believe that is already guaranteed to me by the First Amendment. And the right of Huckabee to win the election and fill the White House with morons like himself is unaffected by my expression of an opinion.

Christians cannot stand for garbage like this. The reason Christianity is becoming less prominent in this country is because atheists are attacking and Christians aren't standing up for what they believe.

Mike Huckabee actually stands up for what he believes. He isn't ashamed to be a Christian. He is honest. He is smart. And he actually welcomes friendly debate. Christopher Hitchens is a man of hatred who would like America to become the same as his British homeland, where people are becoming more and more hostile to Christianity.

Where is the sanity here. We have the Republican establishment attacking Huckabee, like Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, etc. etc., and we also have the rabid left democrats slandering him as well. What this tells me is that Huckabee terrifies both sides because he actually wants to do something they can't stand: unite the American people rather than divide.

Huckabee + Floating Cross? DRUDGE and ROMNEY Reach New Lows

Matt Drudge of the Drudge Report, who is allied with the Romney Campaign, has a bizarre and absolutely odd insinuation about the new Huckabee advertisement. I had to laugh at the desperation of Mitt Romney through Matt Drudge.

There is a "cross" that is behind Huckabee as he is speaking. It's obviously a book case. Obviously. But the Drudge insinuation seems to be that something wrong is going on here. I don't think the cross was intentional, but even if it was, so what? Christmas is about Christ. Christ is about the Cross. Everywhere you look there are lines that intersect though, and I don't think was the plan.

I am speechless at this. Whatever Drudge is doing, he needs realize that people are not as dumb as he wants them to be.

What's even more flooring is that the media actually picks up on this guys tabloid material. What is wrong with the media in our country?

Huckabee Haters Help Huckabee

The more you attack Huck... the stronger we get. It's sort of like attacking a strong military. The more fire that comes, the more dedicated we are to getting Huckabee into the white house. You rally the troops for Huck when you attack.

I want to actually personally thank Matt Drudge of the Drudge Report (who is in Mitt Romney's back pocket) for raising Mike Huckabee's profile in the news to enormous heights. Because honestly, I just don't think Huckabee's profile was high enough to actually win the nomination before all this attention that Drudge lavished upon him. He may have won Iowa, but his rise is growing fast and furious across the nation now. It's like he's forcing Huck into the media spotlight every day, insuring that people will hear his name and research him; and voila! Another Huck supporter. :)

Even things like the misleading headline "Huckabee slams Bush White House" simply solidifies the fact that this guy can stand up in a general election. It shows that he is not beholden to a certain group of people, not even the Bush White House. He is actually FOR the people of the entire nation (Something Rush Limbaugh can't stand -- his living is made by harsh divisiveness).

All of the angry establishment Republicans who utterly used the social conservatives in the past are now showing their fangs and biting. Huckabee has a slogan that "He's a conservative but he's not mad about it." The angry conservatives like Ann "Clueless" Coulter, Michelle Malkin, Sean Hannity, Glen Beck, Laura Ingrahm, Rush Limbaugh etc., etc. These people make their living by tearing people apart. Mike Huckabee is rising because people are simply disgusted with that type of thing.

Huckabee represents optimism and hope for all people. Not just an angry segment of the Republican party. Yes, his values are solidly conservative and Republican, but he will not bow to the angry, vitriolic wing of the party.

Ed Rollins is famous for his role in Ronald Reagan's 49-state landslide victory in the 1980's. He has since had mixed success in running different campaigns. But no one can question this guy's political toughness -- he's been through the hard knocks of rumbling with the democratic opponents.

He now joins Mike Huckabee's campaign as National Chairman

This is big for Huckabee. Very important. Because so many have questioned the strength of his campaign's infrastructure, Ed Rollins will be a vital component to strengthen that infrastructure.

Also, to all of the angry establishment Republicans out there who don't like Huckabee, Rollins should be at least a small step towards calming them down. Let's hope so.
